asbestos lady Even Marvel comic super villain dies of asbestos diseaseToday a friend sent me a link to a bizarre news item from TIME magazine online that lists one of the “Top 10 Oddest Marvel Characters” as The Lady. According to the news article, the character first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1947, in a Captain America comic.

The villain was a chemist who created fireproof clothing for herself and her henchmen. They would then set fires and rob banks. Her nemesis was the Human Torch, and she created bullets to puncture his defenses.

One of the oddest parts of the story is that apparently when the health hazards of asbestos exposure became more widely know, the comic chose to have The Lady herself succumb to disease. TIME reports the character was revealed to have cancer in 1990.

This is probably one of the weirdest things I’ve ever come across in relation to and disease.

Wow!!!! A asbestos villian. Before WR Grace. It never seems to end all the facts and truths about asbestos and here in 1999, in Libby Mt being told finally why we are sick and dying...all of us. I also have (somewhere) a calider that has the twin Towers being hit by planes. This is years before 9-11. Maybe someone(bush) has the same calinder but how odd is that. And to think all the world knew except the people/sheeple.But how could we known being we were kept in the dark for 40 plus years, the time it takes to begin to show your dying from asbestos.Horrible way to die....I wigged out when I found out cryolas/Tweekies and even baby powder contain asbestos and how long was this kept secret?? What the future holds is the education of where to live and not to live to save yourself and your family from dying the same way by the same thing by the same people. We must educate eachother to the truth to save us from this deadly exposure.Stay the hell away from Libby Mt.Thank you
