Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer caused by exposure to that affects approximately 3,500 people each year. It most commonly affects the lining of the lungs (pleural mesothelioma) or abdomen (peritoneal mesothelioma). It can also sometimes affect the lining of the heart (pericardial mesothelioma). There is no known cure for mesothelioma.

The Meso Foundation is the only nonprofit organization dedicated to ending meso, primarily by providing funding for research. To date, the Foundation has funded $8.2 million in mesothelioma research. The Meso Foundation also provides a strong support network for “meso warriors” – those battling mesothelioma – and their families and caregivers, as well as spearheading education and advocacy efforts.

More than 600 people are helped each month by the Meso Foundation, and 81 cents of every dollar given to the Foundation goes directly to programs.
